Well my wife was looking through my daughter-in-laws Facebook and came across this photo of my son and me the DIL took a couple of years ago. Since we were photographing the International Lily Collection in San Angelo Texas, I'm sharing it for #lilymonday  curated by +Ray Bilcliff and +Bob Rutan

Elmer was a well known "Western" novelist using a background of the San Angelo area for many of his books.

These are scanned from some slides my father took in the mid to late '50's somewhere around Trinidad, Colorado. 
As far as I know the scenes were painted by a local artist.
I have hazy recollections of climbing down rickety ladders to see them.
If any of you know any thing about them, I would appreciate any information I could get.

It's for Sunday breakfast!
We take turns with "snack" breakfast before Sunday School - this Sunday is my turn. So grateful to +Joan Hayes of Chocolate Chocolat and More for this recipe! Prepare in advance, pop into the oven for twenty minutes and go.
The first time I fixed these my wife paid me the ultimate compliment (or insult, depends on how you take it) when she said "You made these, I thought you bought them and just heated them up!"

I love old movies and have watched "Philadelphia Story" several times. 
I checked it out from the local library last week for one more time (on DVD - my copy is VHS) I know I've commented on the Argus C-3 to my wife before, but she claimed not to remember.
So, this time I got my C-3 out and showed her. (Yep, sometimes I still have to prove to her that I know what I'm talking about!)

The Santa Fe stopped service to San Angelo years ago, and the old depot now serves as a Railroad Museum.

Spending time with my daughter and granddaughters on Mother's Day, I was trying to get some good photos. My youngest kept giving me a goofy fake grin every time I put the camera to my eye I guess she finally took the hint and I got this look.  Yep, that's the look that melts Grandpa's heart!

The "Mexican Canyon Trestle" on the Alamogordo & Sacramento Mountain Rail Road. The trestle built in 1899 was in use until 1949 when the railroad ceased operation. The railroad, nicknamed "The Cloud Climbing Railroad,  operated for both  logging and tourists, was the highest standard gauge railroad built.

This is Guadalupe Peak, Texas' highest mountain located in far western Texas. It's elevation of 8,749 feet isn't very impressive to those with "real" mountains, but after all this is Texas.

The baby birds hatched a couple of weeks ago. My granddaughter said "There's no birds , just fuzz!"

Just a quick snap as it was passing by.

One of the city busses in San Angelo. Inspired by the trolleys that used to run here years ago. The problem? First, no air conditioning - can you imagine it on those 100º+ days? Then the seats - - wood, with no cushions!
Not the most popular bus to ride, but it sure does look nice!

ARE YOU A CARROT, AN EGG, OR A COFFEE BEAN?   .......................A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed that as one problem was solved, a new one arose. 

Her grandmother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word. 

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She then pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.
